Windows 7 will no longer receive updates as of January 10, 2023

Microsoft announced that the operating system that was launched in 2009 will not receive security updates starting tomorrow, Tuesday, January 10, which makes it vulnerable to cyberattacks. It's been nearly 3 years since Microsoft stopped updating Windows 7, but they've maintained support through their ESU program, which has continued to provide security patches for the latest refractory systems.

This is clearly an opportunity for Microsoft to prompt its users to switch to Windows 11 or, failing that, to Windows 10. The Redmond company knows that for many of them, it will be necessary to purchase a new computer to upgrade to a configuration compatible with the latest version of the operating system. "Most Windows 7 devices will not meet the hardware requirements to update to Windows 11," she wrote.

“Alternatively, compatible Windows 7 PCs can be upgraded to Windows 10 by purchasing and installing a full version of the software,” continues Microsoft, which then states that support for Windows 10 will continue through October 14, 2025.
